Rubber Reading

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires condom labels to contain certain information. When buying condoms, read the package to make sure it says the following:

  • The condoms are made of latex (a form of rubber, and thus, the reason some people call them "rubbers")*
  • They help prevent disease.
  • The expiration date on the box is LATER than the day you are buying them. (The expiration date looks like EXP followed by the date.) You want to be sure the condoms you are buying are not old.

*NOTE: There are some people who are allergic to latex. If you know you are allergic, do not buy this kind of condom.
